When Matty moved to the farm she had big plans,
but it would not realize because of the harsh
conditions. Thousands of Rands and many trips to
nurseries were wasted. It was soon realized that
local plants are the only answer to extreme
weather conditions.
Matty made use of the plants that were already
there, transplanting a lot of it so that they
displayed better. It also helped that a lot of the
women in the area were ready to lend a hand with
advice and sharing plant cuttings. Sometimes you
will find a road grader passing by that would push
out plants in the process, where they luckily find a
new home in the garden.
Some advice from Matty when laying out a garden:
If it grows and blooms do not take it out if
you do not have to
Lay out the stones, pebbles and had
landscaping first before planting
Even some unwanted plants can look pretty
if used right
If it does well, cut the plant and do your
own propagating
