What to do in the garden
by Cathrine Rademan
Out of control hedges should be attended to.
Summer flowering shrubs can pruned after
flowering.
Adopt a similar watering strategy as in October,
water if rains do not fall after a 5 to 7 days,
unless you have an irrigation system installed.
Water deep in early morning, induce deeper
root growth, avoid late afternoon, as this can
promote disease and water evaporates faster.
Plant water plants in ponds to attract
mosquitoes for fish. Plan Autumn flowering
bulbs. Sow winter flower seeds.
Carry on with watching out for aphids. Remove spent flowers from varieties that have finished
blooming.
Pay attention to summer flowering plants, cut flowers for vases and check for any fungal
diseases that may have developed with the increase in temperatures.
Lift spring flowering bulbs and store for the next season.
Water garden, mow lawn, weed flowers beds, tidy cutting. Have picnics and summer parties.
Repeat as necessary.
Mow lawn and water regularly. Lawns regular mowing, but not too short.
It never ends.
Pests and diseases continue inspecting plants and take action as soon as there is any indication
of either affecting the plant.
