Irene School of Garden Design
Inspiring new classroom
The Irene School of Garden Design moved into their
new home on the 1st of August 2015. The school
needed a space that was inspiring, open and
spacious with a homely atmosphere to echo the
schools' attitude to their students. The Irene School
of Garden Design only takes in small groups to
maximise the attention each students receives, and
large tables encourage brainstorming and group
interaction.
The classroom is everything they need it to be and a
bit more, but the journey is also somewhat
miraculous. The classroom used to be offices divided
with partition walls, and taking the walls down was
step one in achieving the desired mood of the
classroom. The walls was given a controversial dark
colour so as to disappear and allow students
calmness of thought, with vibrant accent pieces to
encourage creativity.
The classroom is used by both the full time and part
time students and also the venue for the short
courses, and the idea is that the classroom becomes
the home of a modern garden club, planned for
2016, to host talks and a create a sense of
community and belonging amongst gardeners.
