Beautiful
Clarens is a beautiful small town full of décor shops,
delightful gourmet treats, art and loads of country
Clarens
appeal. Just 3hours drive from Gauteng, it is definitely
worth a weekend in your schedule this year. The small
town is a symphony of old charm and contemporary
chic, with its numerous décor shops and restaurants.
A sure visit is the very popular purple onion, packed to
the rafters with delicatessen items and homemade
goodies that you will not easily find elsewhere. From
wines to jams this is a paradise for the sweet and
savoury fanatic, and be sure to bring an extra
shopping bag as you will want to take some home
with you.
Another very busy attraction of the town is the
brewery where ice cold, local beer is served. It is
difficult to get a seat here at the busiest time of day but
certainly worth it for the craft beer enthusiast. The
bustling brewery and most shops and restaurants all
surround the central park area where people leisurely
play with their pets and children can run around, but
some of the gems of the town is hidden a few streets
away from the city center. This is where you will find
all sorts of "hipster" antique and book shops if you are
like us a bit of a bargain hunter...
