Babylonstoren
In this edition of the Landscape Architecture
Curators Series, a tradition centuries old is
preserved called Ferme onrée. It describes a
country estate laid out partly according to
aesthetic principles and partly for farming
dating back as far as the 1700's.
Babylonstoren set in the scenic Franschhoek
district of the Western Cape is a perfectly
restored and preserved South African example
of this late Baroque style, and the layout still
resemble that of garden styles at that time, but
with an abundance of produce and botanical
knowledge.
