The gardens of Saint Christopher is most
definitely one of the most celebrated and
spectacular examples of residential garden
design in Gauteng. Originally the garden
consisted of only a 3 Acre plot, but over the
years grew to a spectacular 7 acre plot
completely landscaped. The staff include a
former student from the Irene School of
Garden design, and the spectacular garden
ebbs and flows through the most outstanding
colour schemes.
The Architecture of the house and the
ancestry of the owners pointed to an
Italianate garden with English overtones. Rare
plant
collections
were
amassed
and
extensive research was undertaken, including
visits to gardens in both England and Italy for
inspiration. Inspiration comes from all over
the world.
The Stumpery was inspired by the one at
Royal Highness, Prince Charles's property at
Highgrove designed by award winning team
I&J Bannerman. The space lent itself to a
woodland and meadow feel and the addition
of extraordinary crystals and minerals were
incorporated adding a effervescent energy to
this newer part of the garden with forests
of foxgloves, shade plants and tree ferns
lining the elevated wooden walkway.
