The Irene School of Garden Design students ended 2017 on an extremely high note with one of the most
talked about show gardens at this year's co-op between the school and Plantland nurseries. The ful -time
students built their final show garden at Plantland, The Wilds. Visitors overwhelmed us with e-mail
compliments on this stunning little garden. The garden was the brain child of Karen Hall, Ruan Herselman
and lecturer Lee Burger. The garden consisted of a series of diagonal walkways flanked with hedges and
planter boxes filled with retro inspired feature plants in deep rich colour. The choice of plants, layout,
quality of design and installation and confidence is truly a representation of the groups' growth since their
first show garden earlier in 2017. These students are currently preparing their final work for peer review
early in 2018 before entering the green industry as garden designers.
