TURN-AROUND TIME
Our client's application to the CSOS was lodged on 11 September 2017. On 31 October 2017 we discovered
that our client's application was lodged at the CSOS branch in Johannesburg instead of the CSOS branch
in Cape Town, where his property is situated. We resubmitted our client's application to the CSOS branch
in Cape Town on 31 October 2017 and we received a response on 8 November 2017 to inform us that the
application is in assessment stage. On 16 November 2017 we received a notification from the CSOS that
they are dealing with a backlog and that we must expect delays. On 1 December 2017 we received a formal
acknowledgement letter from the CSOS and a request for payment of R50-00 (what a bargain!), which was
processed on 5 December 2018. I received a cal and an e-mail from the appointed conciliator on 8 January
2018 and a response from the body corporate, via the conciliator on 19 January 2018. The next step is to
reply to the body corporate's response and I wil hopeful y be in a position next time to report to you on
the process from now until finalisation.
The CSOS cannot be blamed for the submission to the
incorrect branch therefore, considering that the
application was lodged on 31 October 2017, the turn-
around time to this stage of the resolution process is,
in my view, reasonable. In addition, the submission of
the application and all further correspondence can be
submitted electronical y (and yes, I had to make a
couple of cal s to fol ow-up in between), which adds to
the convenience factor. In my dealings with the CSOS
personnel I found them to be friendly, helpful and
professional huge plus!
Definitely worth a try.
