Inspired by the "Finders Keepers" contest where the prize money was hidden behind a clock in
the pub of the Dullstroom Inn, the clock shop in the heart of Dullstroom is a specialised store
and is not only a fascinating treasure trove to explore, but also has the largest collection of clocks
in the Southern Hemisphere.
The natural verdant nature of the area lends itself to its being home to an array of bird species.
Dullstroom is the proud home of the endangered Blue Crane and Crowned Crane, as well as the
endangered Wattled Crane. These give bird watchers and nature enthusiasts the prime
opportunity to spot such species and to appreciate the splendour that is South African fauna. Its
relatively cool and temperate climate has made Dullstroom the only place in South Africa where
beech and elm trees grow in abundance. Neither of these are indigenous to this country and were
originally planted by Dutch colonists.
With no shortage of places to choose from to satisfy your hunger, Dullstroom will not disappoint
with the selection of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs it hosts, it's even home to the largest
collection of whiskeys in all of the Southern Hemisphere.
