The office park address all the principles of
outdoor behaviours, human comfort and
design suggestive of the style of Landscape
Architecture at the time. The Park has a large
dam which attracts insects, and birdlife, ample
seating and beautiful scenes reminiscent of a
typical Roberto Burle Marx design. The
planting palette is largely indigenous, and a
wide variety of trees are suited to provide
habitat for birds, a true delight for the offices
surrounding the centrally located park.
There are not many of these types of office
parks left that take such good care of the
original design, and that is perhaps why it
should be so carefully preserved and
maintained. The ratio of green to built, truly
provide climatic comfort, and the value it adds
to the life of employees is something more
contemporary office environments should
pursue, but with the increasing pressure from
developers to maximise rentable space,
contemporary offices often end up rather
congested and claustrophobic.
The Glenfield Office Park proves that
environmental image, employee health and a
close relationship with the outdoors is in fact
essential in the creation of a successful office
park. Careful consideration for parking, large
mounds that screen noise and diversity all
contribute to the success of this consortium,
and should be an inspiration to all.
