Nirox gardens may not be
altogether strange to the art
world, but wil most definitely
evoke a sense of curiosity with
the numerous visitors that come
to experience the ever changing
art in the park.
The landscape is worthy of this
months' LA Curator award, due
its simplicity in design and its
impeccable maintenance. The
park acts as a modern art
museum. Discreet, subtle and
elegant to showcase the artist's
work within. The various
exhibition areas al ow for a
variety of art instal ations
whether they are big, small,
sculptural, static or active.
The origins of Nirox are
celebrated as the waterways are
largely designed around the pre-
existing trout farm. The water
plays an important part in
creating the very unique
atmosphere and separating
various outdoor auditoriums and
exhibition spaces. Water states
range from large static pools
around various lawn islands,
cascades, quiet streams and a
series of elegant mirror like
pools.
The sheer scale of this art park is
further enhanced by enormous
trees, not only in size but also
variety that guide the visitor
through the landscape.
