Nirox is part of five adjoining farms covering almost 1000 hectares.
Remarkable is that the landowners decided to drop the fences
between properties to create a unique and biodiverse grassland.
Incorporated into the park is the only artist's residency in South Africa
allowing local and international artists to be inspired by the grassland
garden. Renowned Landscape Architect Patrick Watson was originally
involved in the design, but as the project grew it became more free
and collaborative. The enormous park with considerable landform
changes, typically associated with 2 to 3 year installation periods was
completed in just over six months.
