Jan Cilliers Park
In this edition of the Landscape Architecture
Curator series we celebrate a park, open to
the public which forms part of the
Groenkloof suburb in Pretoria. The park was
commissioned by the municipal director of
Parks Harry Bruins-Lien. It was designed
with 13 cascades in a spillway forming a
miniature waterfall and houses Koi and
creates habitat for familiar bird species. In
the 1960 a variety of Proteas was planted in
the park giving it its alternative name as
Protea Park.
